A Productive Day

Rather terrifying, how much you can done before lunch if you, errrr, well, get up before lunchtime...

1. Got paid by the Union;
2. Costed and agreed promotions for the Union bar on champagne for Trinity;
3. Helped change the menu for the Union bar;
4. Bought books in Oxfam (biog of Disraeli, one about King Solomon's temple, another about Archbishops of Canterbury);
5. Found several CDs for which I've been looking for a while.

On the last, since hearing it on an LP of my parents many years ago (now sadly scratched beyond repair), I've wanted the Evgeny Mravinsky recording of Tschaikovsky 6 with the Leningrad Phil - it's a brilliant account, utterly plumbing the absolute depths of despair. (I also have the Karajan one, which is good in a competely different fashion - all beauty and sheen, lovely but not as gut-wrenching). The complete set of Mravinsky Tschaik. is available at full price, but that's a bit, well, pricey, so was v happy to find a Mravinsky set for £6 in HMV (as well as Ormandy and Popp sets).

I also finally succumbed to Forza (the classic Levine set with Domingo, Price et al, for the rather good price of £13, again in HMV).

Does anyone buy anything for full price these days...?
